What is Coir?
Coconut farmers on the coast of Southern India utilize every piece of the coconut. Coir mats are made from the husk of the coconuts. The husks are first "seasoned" in the lagoons off the coast to extract the fiber, which is then woven into your mat in small looms in the villages of coastal Kerala. The mat is then stenciled with our unique designs. Our designs are 100% dyed and will NOT rub off. Additionally, the mats are fully biodegradable.
Each mat utilizes the husks from about 40 coconuts.
Use & Care of Your Mat
To prolong the laughs you'll get from your mat's unique design, do not place it where it will remain wet for extended periods of time.
Shedding is normal during the first month of use. During this time, simply brush or shake the mat to maintain its appearance.
